Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)
Generally it's because they have been superseded by different packages.
This can be the case of a different package having absorbed them,
perhaps there was a fork in the code and debian has incorporated the new
project, or it could be any number of other things. You can usually
drill in to the package in Aptitude and read the maintainer's notes
and/or see what packages have replaced them.
