I thought its support was dropped with v10 (Buster) release. :O

I thought it would be like Apple and others to drop support for very old
stable versions.

It's exactly like that, Debian releases are supported for five years.

Extended Long Term Support can extend support further, for example
Debian 7's extended support is still running at least until the end of
2019. This depends on sponsors but as the project says in
https://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Extended

"The sponsors decide the scope of supported packages but updates and
security fixes will be available for all Debian users without cost."
