Can't have both stable Kernels v2.6.32 and v3.2.0 installed?

Hello.

I wanted to try Debian's latest stable Kernel v3.2.0 to see if it is any
better than my current old v2.6.32. I want to keep my old one, but it
doesn't look like I can:

# apt-get install linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64
linux-headers-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64 : Depends: linux-base (>= 3~) but
2.6.32-46 is to be installed
Recommends: firmware-linux-free (>=
3~) but 2.6.32-46 is to be installed
Breaks: initramfs-tools (< 0.99~)
but 0.98.8 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

In the past, I remember I could have multiple Kernel versions. How come
I can't with these two? Thank you in advance and happy new year! :)

You can do whatever you want, multiple distributions, multiple kernels
within one distribution, endless customization.

Whether you can do it with Debian is another matter, one I can't answer
since I don't use Debian.

I don't see it? FYI, http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=90945
gets some suggestions, but I am still struggling. Grr, this is harder
than I expected. Heh. Maybe I will just stick with Kernel v3.2.0 since
it works fine. :P

ISTM that you've been given suggestions in that forum thread that haven't
yet been followed through.

I have it up now. Now, I have weird black graphic at X's login screen to
my desktop if I logout. I have to restart X to get the black form boxes
to go away.

Allah's Apostle said, "Once while a prophet amongst the prophets was
taking a rest underneath a tree, an ant bit him. He, therefore, ordered
that his luggage be taken away from underneath that tree and then
ordered that the dwelling place of the ants should be set on fire. Allah
sent him a revelation: 'Wouldn't it have been sufficient to burn a
single ant (that bit you)?'" --Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 54,
